In big cities like Kigali or Butare, vulnerable young women often beg with their babies on the back. Human Help Network Rwanda wants to give them, and especially their children, a different perspective. In cooperation with the District of Huye, Human Help Network Rwanda is just building up a sustainable income generating activity for single mothers in Butare city. Two cooperatives have been founded for almost 200 members. In 2009, they are both going to start the production of bricks and tiles. A regular income for the mother, especially if she does not have the support of a husband, ensures a better future for the children. Children are not responsible for the circumstances in which they are born, so they all deserve to get the best possible opportunities for their future.
